CHICAGO ARCHITECTURE CENTER
We had the honor of orchestrating the celebration of the grand opening of the new Chicago Architecture Center, while engaging a wide range of stakeholders including donors, partners, vendors, civic leaders, and volunteers. Our team meticulously planned and executed a series of events to mark this significant occasion, including two exclusive VIP events, an official ribbon-cutting ceremony, and a members-only open house. Mindful of ongoing construction, we built flexibility into the schedule to account for any unforeseen delays. As the inaugural event in the new space, we took the lead in managing guest logistics, vendor load-in, and overall event management. To accommodate the guest flow and provide additional space, we utilized a 20x100 clear-top tent attached to the side doors. Both the tent and the interior of the center were adorned with décor and print materials showcasing the new visual identity of the Chicago Architecture Foundation. Our responsibilities encompassed invitation management, RSVPs, registration, security, audio-visual setup, live entertainment, catering, and a photo booth.
We meticulously crafted detailed timelines for each event to ensure a seamless flow of programming, allowing guests ample time to explore the new city model and skyscraper gallery. Notably, the ribbon-cutting ceremony featured a special live performance by jazz legend Kurt Elling, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel was present to commemorate the occasion. Prior to the official public opening, over 2,000 guests had the opportunity to experience the new Chicago Architecture space during the three preceding days. The grand opening garnered extensive media coverage, generating an impressive
65.4 million impressions during Opening Week events.
It was an honor to receive the proclamation from the Mayor, designating August 31 as "Architecture Day" in Chicago, further solidifying the significance of the event.
