Nando's Grand Opening with
Chance the Rapper
Chicago
Situation:
Create awareness for a new Nando’s location on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago.
Task:
Manage Nando’s grand opening event benefiting Social Works, Chance the Rapper’s non-profit in support of Chicago Public Schools.
Action:
We took the lead on organizing the A/V, security, graphics and photography needs for the Opening. We worked with the Chicago Police Department, Alderman Reilly and the Department of Transportation to develop an appropriate security plan that included shutting down one block of Michigan Ave. to help control the 700+ fans that showed up to meet Chance. We were also tasked with developing a floor plan that would allow Chance to move throughout the crowded restaurant while allowing enough room for the required audio equipment, graphics and space for media.
Result:
Close to 200 fans were able to meet Chance and experience Nando’s on Michigan Ave. without incident. Media coverage was off the charts and social media mentions topped over 500,000 impressions. Nando’s total donation to Social Works was $50,000! The Michigan Avenue location continues to exceed sales projections and is one of the busiest restaurants for the international fast casual chain.
